LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 23, 2001--Spruce and InterActual® announced today a technology cross-licensing and software distribution agreement that marries Spruce's industry leading DVD authoring products and SpruceLink WebDVD technology with InterActual's highly acclaimed InterActual Player 2.0.
The InterActual Player 2.0 is a software application that plays DVD-Video seamlessly integrated with a rich variety of HTML Web content. By combining quality video with Web interaction, creative DVD authors can deliver compelling solutions to the entertainment, marketing, and educational sectors.
Under the agreement, InterActual will license Spruce's innovative SpruceLink WebDVD software module, which provides run-time access to Web links that are easily authored and embedded into the DVD-Video data set by any of Spruce's authoring products. InterActual will combine the SpruceLink module with their standard InterActual Player 2.0, and license this combination back to Spruce for incorporation into Spruce's standard authoring products.
Spruce will also offer InterActual's Inventor Connection developer program to their customers, providing a high-level support option for creating advanced Web-connected DVDs. InterActual's Inventor Connection delivers essential programming information and the latest InterActual software and tools to its membership of DVD Professionals.
``This InterActual Player 2.0 powered by SpruceLink technology will enable our customers to create WebDVD titles utilizing Dolby Digital and the DVDForum's CSS encryption technology, the perfect complement to our existing SpruceLink player for creating WebDVDonCD titles,'' remarked Greg Wallace, Spruce co-founder and vice president of R&D.
``InterActual is excited to offer the InterActual Player 2.0 and Inventor Connection to Spruce's highly regarded customer base. The partnership will enable Spruce's customers to create leading edge WebDVDs,'' said Clint Ludeman, InterActual Vice President of DVD Software & Development Services.
